About The Park

Welcome to Bearded Buffalo Resort

Bearded Buffalo Resort was created with one goal in mind—to give guests a peaceful, comfortable place to stay while exploring the best of the Black Hills. Nestled just outside Custer, South Dakota, the resort offers a quiet retreat that’s still close to iconic attractions like Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park, Stockade Lake, and the charming towns of Hill City, Keystone, and Hot Springs. Whether you’re here for a weekend getaway or a long-term stay, our resort is designed to make you feel right at home.

Accommodations for every traveler

We offer two types of accommodations to suit your travel style. Our full hookup RV sites provide a convenient and scenic place to park, with easy access to all resort amenities. For guests looking for more space and comfort, our two- and three-bedroom cabins are a perfect fit. Each cabin features queen beds in every bedroom, vaulted ceilings, and a loft area for extra living space. Two-bedroom cabins include a queen-sized pull-out couch in the loft, while three-bedroom cabins offer an expansive loft living area. All cabins come with air conditioning, Wi-Fi, full kitchens, private bathrooms, and in-unit washer/dryers. Towels and linens are provided, and each unit includes parking for two vehicles. We’re also pet friendly, and Pack ‘n Plays are available upon request.

Explore the beautiful Black Hills

The resort itself is designed with both relaxation and recreation in mind. Start your morning with a fresh brew from our on-site coffee cabin (currently closed for the season), or stop by the general store for snacks, essentials, and local goods. Kids can enjoy the large turf play area, complete with games and plenty of space to run. Coming soon, guests will also have access to a dog park, a pickleball court, and a common area with a fire pit—perfect for winding down after a day of hiking, sightseeing, or exploring nearby towns like Hermosa and Newcastle.

At the heart of the resort stands “Bo,” the largest buffalo wood sculpture in the country and a favorite photo spot for guests of all ages. Whether you’re hiking the trails of Custer State Park, riding the 1880 Train in Keystone, or enjoying a slice of pie in Hill City, Bearded Buffalo Resort offers a welcoming place to return to each night. It’s more than just a place to stay—it’s part of the Black Hills experience.
